The Tuition Fee Credit Plan reimburses a portion of tuition fees for students enrolled at the University of Ottawa who are the child or spouse of a part-time professor. If the part-time professor is a part-time student at uOttawa, they may also apply for the credit.
All members of the main bargaining unit are eligible for tuition credits equivalent to 7.5% of the remuneration received for work performed in the bargaining unit. For the fourth consecutive academic year of teaching, this amount rises to 15%. The maximum amount a member, spouse or dependent can receive is $2,000 per academic session.
Available funds are distributed to those who apply. The calculation is based on articles 10.11 and 10.12. This amount is divided equally over the three terms. However, as you can imagine, the number of requests exceeds the amounts available. Therefore, the allocation of tuition credits is made on a pro rata basis according to the number of members who have applied and the percentage accumulated by each member.
For the 2024-2025 academic year, the fund is limited to $100,000.
