The Association took this long-standing grievance into arbitration last Fall. We originally had filed a grievance because the employer refused to compensate members for additional work resulting from deferred assignments or exams during the term.
The employer circumvented the application of article 5.2.2.1 of the collective agreement, arguing that only work performed after the end of a contract was eligible for additional compensation.
We recently took the case to arbitration and won! The arbitrator concluded that a part-time professor is entitled to receive additional compensation under article 5.2.2.1 for work performed during their teaching contract, including the preparation and marking of a deferred exam or mid-term assignment.

Following this decision, any member is eligible to claim the amounts that should have been paid under article 5.2.2.1. for any differed exam or assignment done after January 31, 2022.
